Starbucks - No Genre collab
(PROJECT DESCRIPTION)
As the co-lead creative and art director on this exciting project, I had the opportunity to collaborate with the music group "No Genre" and bring their digital animated band to life for a unique partnership with Starbucks. The core concept was to create a 3D animated band that would serve as a digital ambassador for Starbucks, allowing the coffee giant to meaningfully integrate itself into the music world in a way it hadn't done before. By tapping into the creative talents of real-life Starbucks baristas who also had musical abilities, we were able to craft a band that blended the worlds of coffee and music in an authentic, engaging way. In designing the visual aesthetic for the No Genre band, I drew inspiration from the diverse, eclectic style of the musical group itself. The four band members - each a Starbucks barista with their own distinct personality - were meticulously crafted as 3D animated characters. From their expressive faces and dynamic stage movements to their stylish, coffee-themed outfits, every detail was carefully considered to make the digital musicians feel vibrant and lifelike. The band's visual identity also reflected the "No Genre" name and ethos, with a bold, abstract logo and a color palette that incorporated Starbucks' iconic green alongside a range of bold, energetic hues. This visual language extended to the band's virtual performance stages, which blended urban and natural elements to create visually stunning, ever-changing backdrops. Throughout the creative process, I worked closely with the No Genre musical group to ensure the digital band accurately captured their musical style and stage presence. By collaborating closely with the musicians, I was able to infuse the animated performances with an authentic energy and personality that resonated with their existing fan base, while also introducing their unique sound to new audiences through the Starbucks partnership. I'm incredibly proud of the work our team produced for this innovative project. By seamlessly blending Starbucks' brand identity with the musical talents of real-life baristas, we were able to create a digital band that served as a compelling and dynamic ambassador for both entities. The No Genre digital band allowed Starbucks to expand its reach into the music world, while also providing the musical group with a innovative platform to showcase their talents to a global audience. This project was recognized with numerous industry accolades, including a prestigious Andy Award, which celebrated the creative team's ability to push the boundaries of digital music experiences and brand integration. The success of the No Genre digital band has paved the way for future collaborations between brands, musicians, and emerging technologies, demonstrating the power of innovative, cross-disciplinary partnerships.
